FAQ of Giclée Printing

FAQ of Giclée Printing

Do you create canvas transfers?

We do not do canvas transfers. We have a fine art quality printer that can print your image directly on to an artist canvas, which creates a beautiful piece of artwork.

How do I send my photo/image?

You can send a flattened psd or jpg image file to art@menaulprinting.com by using yousendit.com.

If you would like to scan your physical photo to be uploaded or emailed, please scan it in at 300 dpi (dots per inch) resolution or higher. This is so the fine details can be seen when the photo is enlarged to create the artwork. If the photo was taken with a digital camera, please make sure you submit the original size file of the photo. If there are any problems with your photos, we will contact you right away.

Can you combine subjects from more than one photo into a single artwork?

Yes, we can. You can submit your photos along with your instructions for the placement of each subject. After your photos are received, we will digitally combine your photos, and email you a combined photo layout. Modifications can be made to the layout if needed. Alternatively, you can have a person or subject removed from your photo, not to be included in the final artwork. Simply give us detailed instructions when placing your order.

What is gallery wrapped stretched?

A contemporary trend is hanging a canvas artwork without a frame, by having the printed canvas image stretched around wooden stretcher bars. Gallery wrap means to allow for one inch color bleeds on all sides of the artwork. Since the sides of the artwork will have a finished edge, it allows the artwork to be displayed without a frame.

What is rolled canvas?

Rolled canvas is canvas that can then be taken to a frame shop and put into a frame.

Do you coat the canvas?

Yes, we put a UV coating on all our canvases to protect them.

Do you use “archival inks” and what does that mean?

Yes, we use archival inks. In order to successfully endure over time, an ink must have two main properties. Perhaps the most important is the ability to resist fading. Over time, many inks start to slowly fade away, first turning brown and later almost disappearing altogether. An archival ink must also remain fast to the page, ideally, so that exposure to moisture will not cause the ink to run.

Can I see a proof of the art, and what if I don’t like it?

We can show you one proof prior to putting it on canvas at no additional charge. Some proofs will have a charge to them, e.g. if you wanted a proof of our texturizing a canvas to look more like a painting. After reviewing the preview, you may request modifications if there is any reason you are not satisfied with your artwork. If modifications are requested, we modify your artwork according to your suggestions. Once we are complete with the modifications, another preview is made available to you for review. We will modify the artwork until you are completely satisfied. If you still are not completely satisfied with your artwork, you may cancel your order for an in-store credit of the purchasing price. Our in-store credits do not have an expiration date.

How long does it take to create my artwork?

The standard creation time is 5-7 business days. The Rush option can be selected, for a $10.00 additional fee, and your artwork, would be created within 2 business days.

Can I have the finished artwork delivered as a gift to someone else?

You sure can! When placing your order, let us know if you would like it shipped somewhere other than your billing address and simply provide the correct shipping address at that time.

Can a personalized note be included with the artwork if it is being shipped to someone else?

We are more than happy to accommodate your request to include a short personalized note with the artwork. Please include the contents of your personalized note in your special instructions or email us

What if my order is a gift and I have limited time for when I need to receive it?

No problem. Just let us know.

Do you offer any guarantees or warranties?

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee and stand behind all of our artwork. As our inks are archival, the manufacture has a warranty that the image will look good for 100 years.

When do you charge me for the artwork?

Once we receive your usable, clear photo the creation process is started for your order. Since all of our artworks are hand done by either traditional or graphic artists, we have to charge for the service we provide.

How should I take care of my artwork?

While our canvas giclées are printed using the highest quality materials, it’s important to take care with your print. The archival inks and UV coating are excellent at protecting your print from dust, scratches and sunlight, however it is best if you do not display the canvas in direct sunlight or areas of high heat since extended exposure will have an effect on your art.

If your print requires dusting, use a slightly damp cloth to gently wipe away any dust that has settled on the canvas. Although the giclée is water resistant because of the laminate, it is not recommended that there should ever be standing water or cleaner used on your canvas.

I received my artwork damaged. What do I do?

Please contact us within 10 days from the delivery date. Please hold on to the packaging, since we will be contacting our shipping carrier to investigate the problem. We do request you email a photo of the damaged artwork. Once reviewed, we will process your order accordingly.

I need a last minute gift, by tomorrow. What are my options?

Our one-of-a kind gift certificates are perfect for last minute gift shopping. With our electronic gift certificate option, once you place your order the gift certificate is emailed directly to you. All you have to do is print it or email it to the gift recipient.

How do I order additional prints of my artwork?

If you would like to order additional prints, please send us an email at art@menaulprinting.com.

Do you ship Internationally?

We accept and ship orders for our services outside the USA. All shipments outside the USA would be rolled canvas, not gallery wrapped or framed. The standard shipping is USPS Global Priority mail, or airmail, and Rush shipping is FedEx or UPS.
